Cliffe View is a traditional Yorkshire Dales cottage at the heart of the idyllic Yorkshire Dales village of Kettlewell.
The cottage dates back to the 1800′s and was renovated throughout in 2002 to preserve the authentic character and original features including flagstone and stripped wood floors, sash windows and simple, rustic décor. For a time, Cliffe View was also a police house, used to hold offenders overnight on their way to the ‘assizes’ in Skipton and we’ve kept the original cell door, window and even a pair of chains in the utility room and downstairs loo!
Today, Cliffe View is a spacious family cottage with a relaxing, homely atmosphere and modern creature comforts. The main living room is a large, open-plan farmhouse kitchen and dining room, with an imposing stone fireplace, roaring multi fuel stove and big comfy sofa to curl up with a good book! The chunky dining room table can seat six people comfortably and a large island unit, with a breakfast bar is the divider with the fitted kitchen, which includes a double oven, Belfast sink, fridge freezer and microwave. Leading from the kitchen the ‘cell’ door takes you into a utility room, with a boot sink, creel and washer dryer, plus the downstairs toilet and shower.
In addition to the main living room is a cosy lounge, with a 1930′s flavour! The period tiled fireplace frequently sparks fond memories of granny’s real fire and two comfy sofas, the warm colours and stripped wood floors all add to the welcoming ambience. This is the place for snuggling up in front of the tv, watching a dvd, listening to music on the radio and cd system which also has an mp3 socket, tackling a jigsaw, playing board games or dominoes.
Cliffe view sleeps six people comfortably, with two double bedrooms and one twin room. The master double bedroom is ensuite, with a toilet, bidet and washbasin. All the bedrooms have golden stripped wood floors and plenty of storage space. Maintaining the period theme, the house bathroom has a huge roll-top bath with shower mixer tap.
